Photoprotection and Prevention of Cutaneous Cancer in a Health Adolescent

Introduction: The incidence of skin cancer has increased in young people. It is a preventable disease, where nursing work is important.
Objective: To present a nursing case in relation to photoprotection and prevention of skin cancer in an adolescent with a healthy appearance.
Methods: Case presentation of an adolescent with Photodamage and acquired and congenital melanocytic nevi, seen in the medical consultation of the health area III, of the Cienfuegos municipality, in Cuba, in September 2023. For the assessment, the functional patterns of Marjory Gordon's health and the child-adolescent questionnaire of habits, attitudes and knowledge related to sun exposure, the NANDA-I, NOC and NIC taxonomies were used in the care plan.
Results: In the adolescent, desires to increase independence in maintaining health and to know strategies to increase self-care were identified. The care plan was developed with the nursing diagnosis Willingness to improve self-care, the NOC result Risk control: sun exposure and the NIC Health Education intervention.
Conclusions: The Nursing care plan designed improved knowledge, attitudes and sun exposure habits, with a favorable evolution of the skin lesion that was the reason for consultation and greater adherence to the use of protective means and creams, which improves self-care for photoprotection and prevention of skin cancer and greater quality of care for vulnerable adolescents.
