Introduction: The teaching of basic biomedical sciences in Nursing requires effective integration with the nursing care process. A developmental teaching approach is essential for this purpose, although its implementation poses challenges.
Objective: To propose a methodology to enhance the teaching-learning process of basic biomedical sciences through a developmental approach in Nursing.
Methods: Methodological educational research with a qualitative-quantitative approach was conducted at the “Victoria de Girón” Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Medical Sciences of Havana, Cuba, during 2022–2023. The study population consisted of 123 nursing professors, from which 15 were selected using criterion-based sampling. The study was structured in three phases: Diagnosis (through surveys, observation, and interviews), Design, and Expert Evaluation using Aiken’s V. Quantitative analysis was performed using IBM-SPSS, and content analysis was conducted with Atlas.ti. The study employed methodological triangulation for integration.
Results: Learning needs regarding the developmental approach and a weak connection between content and the Nursing Care Process were identified. The proposed methodology encompasses curricular, procedural, and evaluative dimensions. All items of the proposal achieved Aiken’s V values above 0.80, confirming its feasibility and applicability.
Conclusions: The proposed methodology offers a systemic reference for teaching basic biomedical sciences with a developmental approach, strengthens integration with nursing practice, and promotes the training of autonomous, critical, and responsible students.
