Experiences of nursing professionals in caring for children with enuresis

Introduction: enuresis has a great impact on the social life of children and their families; due to the emotional and behavioral disorders it causes.
Objective: describe the experiences of nursing professionals in the care of children with enuresis and their family environment.
Methods: qualitative research with descriptive design. In the University Polyclinic of Cerro, Havana, Cuba, during the year 2023. The population was constituted by 23 nursing professionals from which nine nurses were obtained by non -probabilistic sampling, for convenience (saturation and redundancy criteria). The data were collected through a semi -structured interview, with conversational technique. The data were processed manually through content analysis.
Results: four categories emerged. A) Initial detention and diagnosis, b) emotional education and support, c) Psychosocial and monitoring impact, d) family repercussion.
Conclusions: the experiences of nursing professionals in the care of children with enuresis in the family environment; It constitutes a challenge that transcends the clinical, to demand from these professionals, empathy, proactive skills that encourage psychological support to children and family, as well as the reduction of stigmas on the subject. The performance of nursing professionals with children with enuresis is based on experiences, actions and procedures capable of facilitating the identification of the health needs of these infants and their family, in order to design care plans and solve health problems.
