Abstract

Introduction: Community care with a cultural approach should be assumed as a leading element from a social-familial community care within the nurse-family binomial relationship.

Objective: To systematize the opportunities offered by cultural elements within the nurse-family binomial relationship of community care.

Methods: An integrative review was carried out of articles available in PubMed, SciELO, Redalyc and Medigraphic. The following descriptors (DeCS) were used: cuidados [caregiving], competencia cultural [cultural competence], enfermería de atención primaria [primary care nursing] and enfermería transcultural [transcultural nursing]; as well as the Boolean operators AND and OR. Original and review articles were included, in full text, in Spanish and English, published between 2008 and 2023, about community care and cultural approach. Repeated articles were excluded, as well as those with languages, publication dates and within modalities different than the included.

Conclusions: The cultural elements of nursing care in the community provide chances to develop joint health actions based on the idiosyncrasy of care, which allow expanding the dimension of care from the nurse-family binomial relationship.
