Quality of Nursing Care Perceived by People Hospitalized with COVID-19

Introduction: Satisfaction and experience of care are related to the person's perception of the received nursing care and is made up as an indicator of the quality of care.
Objective: To describe the quality of nursing care perceived by people with COVID-19 treated at a hospital in the metropolitan area of Barranquilla, Colombia.
Methods: A cross-sectional and descriptive study was carried out, with the participation of 32 people hospitalized with COVID-19 between March and October 2021. The Quality of Nursing Care Questionnaire was used, based on the dimensions of experiences and satisfaction with nursing care; it which has a Cronbach's alpha of 0.85 for "experience with nursing care," and 0.97 for "satisfaction with nursing care," for a total reliability of 0.90. The data were consolidated in electronic forms and analyzed with descriptive statistics (mean, standard deviation, and relative and absolute frequency measures) using the software IBM SPSS (version 27).
Results: The predominant sex was female, with a mean age of 51 years and a hospital stay of 6 days. The perceived quality of nursing care was good, with a score of 82 % in the experience dimension and 87.9 % in the satisfaction dimension.
Conclusions: The quality of nursing care perceived by individuals was positive. Individuals valued the effort, dedication and care protocols implemented by the institution.
