Conception about the Management Process in the Context of Professional Nursing

Abstract

Introduction: Management is a fundamental activity in the organization of work and, in the professional context of nursing, is challenged to achieve the sustainability of care. This professional accepts his/her management as a complex process, which manifests the need for an evaluative analysis, in the theoretical and methodological aspects, required by the discipline and the health system.

Objective: To systematize the term gestión [management] in the context of professional nursing.

Methods: A systematic bibliographic review was carried out, of works published during the years 2010 to 2020, selected during the months from January to April 2021. Recognized keywords from DeCS, as well as Boolean operators, were used: Administración de recursos humanos [human resources administration] AND Organización [organization] OR Administración [administration] AND Administración Hospitalaria [hospital administration] AND Atención de Enfermería [nursing care] OR Servicios de Enfermería [nursing services]. The search was performed in the databases of Dialnet, SciELO, Index, Redalyc and Medigraphic. The PRISMA flow diagram was used to facilitate the formulation of the search strategy. The guiding question was structured through the PICO methodology, whose name comes from Patient, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome. The systematization favored the interpretation of the referents and outcomes from the organization of scientific knowledge and the compared bibliography.

Conclusions: The diverse similarity in criteria, as well as the relevance of integration and fusion, regarding the nursing management process is acknowledged to be present in several areas of knowledge within the specialty, with a view to improving the management activity in correspondence with the social object and the outcomes, adjusted according to the demands of the health system at the different levels of care.
